This course is FULL, with 12 students currently enrolled.This course is offered by the Biology departmentin the College of Sciences . It is classified as a Lecture, and is worth 3. It meets on Tuesdays, Thursdays, from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm in Mendel Hall 260.The course is instructed by Jackman, Todd.

Course description:

Explores use of molecular data to infer histories ofpopulations and species. Using DNA sequence data, fragmentanalyses, and whole genome analysis, examines theoreticalfoundations of molecular evolution such as the neutraltheory of molecular evolution and Bayesian statisticalmethods as it applies to both population genetics andphylogenetics. Practical aspects of downloading, aligningand analyzing DNA sequence data from public databases.Includes student presentations and discussion of primaryliterature.Open to seniors with GPA > 3.8 with permission ofinstructor;
